PDB engineer allegedly assaulted while trying to protect female colleague in Ctg office 11.06.2026

A Power Development Board (PDB) engineer, Mehedi Haque, was allegedly assaulted on Tuesday at the utility's Agrabad office in Chattogram. The incident occurred when Haque intervened to protect a female executive engineer, Nilufarin Akter, who was being aggressively confronted by 35 to 40 Collective Bargaining Agent (CBA) activists. The group was protesting the "no work, no pay" recruitment of a worker. Following the assault, a general diary was filed with Double Mooring Police Station, and CCTV footage was collected. In response, PDB headquarters transferred four employees: Md Hafizur Rahman, Md Nurunnabi, Md Shafiqul Islam, and Md Ayub. While CBA leaders deny the assault, claiming only "pushing and shoving" occurred, Chief Engineer Kamal Uddin Ahmed confirmed that an investigation is currently underway after both parties submitted formal complaints.
