Five blocks, five weeks: Granville Street in Downtown Vancouver is now a vibrant FIFA World Cup pedestrian zone 12.06.2026

Granville Street in Downtown Vancouver has been transformed into a vibrant, vehicle-free pedestrian zone for the duration of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, spanning five blocks from West Georgia Street to Davie Street. This seven-week activation, running from June 8 to July 26, 2026, features extensive decorations, public art, expanded patios for local businesses, and themed programming across each block, including "Selfie Central" and "Game On." The closure, led by Downtown Van, has rerouted TransLink bus services to Howe and Seymour Streets and utilizes concrete and steel barriers for security. This initiative aims to create a festive urban destination, leveraging the global tournament to enhance Granville Street as a public space with art installations, entertainment, and increased seating capacity.
