Heads held high for Noraqilah-Zi Yu despite Australian Open exit 12.06.2026

Malaysian teenage women's doubles pair Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan and Low Zi Yu reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, marking their first time achieving this stage in a World Tour Super 500 event. The world No 84 duo, consisting of 19-year-old Noraqilah and 15-year-old Zi Yu, eventually lost to Indonesia's world No 15 pair, Fabriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, with a score of 21-13, 21-17. The pair has gained momentum following a victory over Japan's world No 7 in the Uber Cup and a runners-up finish at the China Masters Super 100. Additionally, singles player Justin Hoh, ranked world No 47, also reached his first Super 500 quarter-final before losing to Indonesia's Zaki Ubaidillah (21-7, 21-15). Both results represent significant career milestones for the young Malaysian athletes in Sydney.
