KPMG pulls report on AI usage due to apparent hallucinations 14h ago

KPMG has withdrawn a report titled “Redefining excellence in the age of agentic AI” after several organizations, including UBS, the UK’s National Health Service, Swiss Federal Railways, and Transport for London, stated that its claims regarding their AI usage were inaccurate or misleading. The research group GPTZero identified these inaccuracies, attributing them to AI hallucinations, suggesting KPMG may have used AI to author a report about AI. This incident follows a similar withdrawal by EY last month of a report that also contained apparent AI hallucinations and fake footnotes. A KPMG spokesperson confirmed the report's removal for an internal investigation, emphasizing the firm's guidelines for responsible AI use, which include human oversight and source verification.
