The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) is actively recruiting an international procurement specialist to manage complex processes for the World Bank-supported Sri Lanka Ports and Logistics Development Programme (PORTAL). This US$3 million grant-funded initiative, currently in its preparation and design phase, aims to enhance Sri Lanka's status as a regional maritime hub by improving port operations, logistics infrastructure, and institutional capacity. Key objectives include expanding Colombo Port's capacity, developing value-added logistics facilities for warehousing and distribution, and improving supply-chain efficiency. The preparatory phase, funded by the Grant Facility for Project Preparation (GFPP), will cover feasibility studies, designs, and institutional reforms to prepare for future major investments, with the ultimate goal of positioning Colombo as a high-value regional distribution hub beyond traditional transshipment.
