A defamation case against Congress leader and Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has been revived after a court admitted a revision petition. The legal dispute stems from remarks Gandhi made on December 12, 2024, during a visit to Boolgarhi village regarding the 2020 Hathras rape case. Gandhi allegedly stated that the accused individuals were roaming free while the victim's family remained confined. This statement was challenged by three men—Ravi, Ram Kumar, and Lavkush—who were acquitted of the charges after spending nearly two and a half years in jail. The petitioners previously sought Rs 1.5 crore in damages, demanding Rs 50 lakh each. While a lower court had initially dismissed the complaint on May 13, Additional District Judge Vijay Kumar II will now hear the revision plea on July 15.
