Breaking barriers: DBSH connects underserved youth to STEM opportunities 16.06.2026

Founded in 2015 by 29-year-old social entrepreneur Khayelihle Nkabinde, Dream Big, Stay Humble (DBSH) is a youth empowerment organisation dedicated to supporting underserved South African communities. As the nation commemorates 50 years since the 1976 Soweto Uprising, DBSH focuses on providing structural access to STEM education, tech literacy, and entrepreneurship. By offering mentorship and networking with industry leaders, the initiative aims to ensure a youth's origin does not limit their future success. A key priority is increasing female representation in STEM through events like the Dream Women in STEM Technovation Summit, which provides hands-on experience. Since its inception, DBSH has positively impacted over 4,000 young people, helping them transform ideas into sustainable enterprises. An example of this success is Jane Cholo, a grade 11 pupil who will attend an academic camp in the US.
