Despite a record-high 86 per cent of pupils securing their preferred primary school places in Hong Kong, many parents are still actively seeking spots in popular institutions. This comes after a premature SMS notification by the Education Bureau, which, despite containing the correct school choices, mistakenly listed the wrong calendar year. School principals and parents generally believe this rare blunder had minimal impact on the subsequent application process. Some parents even found the early notification provided a slight advantage, allowing them more time to strategize applications to additional schools before the official results were due on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
