Agressie in de zorg blijft groot probleem, ondanks maatregelen 18.02.2026

Despite various initiatives, aggression in healthcare remains a significant problem, with nearly six in ten healthcare employees reporting incidents in 2024, according to the CBS. This figure shows little improvement since 2020 and is comparable to pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Measures like reporting points and increased use of security personnel have proven insufficient. The issue has garnered political attention, leading to parliamentary questions and government campaigns like 'Blijf jezelf, tel even tot 11'. Physical aggression affected one in five healthcare workers, while nearly half experienced verbal aggression, and a quarter reported bullying. Social workers and group/residential caregivers are disproportionately affected, particularly within mental health and disability care. While men and women experience aggression at similar rates, the forms differ, with men facing more threats and women more sexual harassment. Younger employees also report higher rates of aggression.
