Air India Mumbai-Bengaluru flight makes ‘PAN PAN’ call after engine stalls 09.04.2026

An Air India flight, AI 2812, from Mumbai to Bengaluru, declared a "PAN PAN" emergency on Thursday after one of its engines stalled shortly after takeoff. The A320 Neo aircraft, which departed around 2:15 am, experienced a suspected technical issue, with passengers reporting hearing a sound and seeing sparks during ascent. The pilots promptly returned to Mumbai airport, landing safely at approximately 2:35 am with 47 passengers on board. Air India stated the return was a precautionary measure, and an alternative aircraft was arranged, departing at 4:45 am. The grounded aircraft is undergoing technical inspections.
