Nationalist Party (PN) leader Alex Borg is compelled to resign his parliamentary seat in Gozo following his election in two districts, as dictated by party rules. The PN statute mandates that candidates elected from multiple districts must relinquish the seat where they achieved a lower percentage of the district quota, irrespective of the total votes. Although Borg garnered more first-count votes in Gozo (13th District) with 12,211 compared to the 12th District's 9,614, his percentage of the quota was higher in the 12th District at 275.55% versus Gozo's 262.72%. This technicality means he must give up the Gozo seat. Borg was among fifteen MPs elected in two districts during the 2026 General Election.
