Amazon disrupting itself, rebuilding customer shopping experience around AI from ground up 09.04.2026

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced a significant strategic pivot in his annual letter to shareholders, revealing the company's intention to fundamentally rebuild its customer shopping experience around artificial intelligence. Rather than merely integrating AI features into existing systems, Amazon plans to reimagine its retail operations from the ground up, even if it necessitates disrupting successful, large-scale products and infrastructure. Jassy emphasized that AI is a "multiplier" that will transform all current customer interactions and enable entirely new ones. This proactive approach, despite the challenges of overhauling established processes, is seen as less risky than remaining static amidst rapid technological advancements. The company concluded 2025 with a 12% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $717 billion from $638 billion.
