Amazonas: Former police officer sentenced to 35 years in prison for sexual abuse of a minor 07.07.2026

The Superior Court of Justice of Amazonas has sentenced Jim Carl Solsol Ríos to 35 years of effective imprisonment for the crime of sexual rape against a 12-year-old minor. At the time of the incident, the convict was serving as an officer of the National Police of Peru (PNP). The specialized criminal court for Crimes of Violence against Women and Family Group Members determined that the victim became pregnant following the sexual encounter. Although the defense attempted to justify the crime using arguments of "error of type" and "culturally conditioned error," the panel dismissed these allegations, stating that consent is legally irrelevant when protecting the sexual integrity of minors. In addition to the prison sentence, the Court ordered the payment of S/ 10,000 in civil reparations to the victim.
