Amid SpaceX IPO, Elon Musk wants to send 1 million AI satellites to space 9h ago

Elon Musk has announced an ambitious plan for SpaceX to deploy up to 1 million AI satellites to establish orbital data centers, potentially beginning as early as 2028. These satellites, measuring 230 feet and providing 120 kilowatts of compute power, aim to run AI systems more efficiently than costly and environmentally damaging ground-based centers. This initiative integrates xAI technology and relies on the Starship rocket, which Musk expects to be fully reusable by 2026. The announcement coincides with SpaceX's historic IPO on June 12, which raised $75 billion via 555.5 million shares at $135 each. Valuing the company at over $1.75 trillion, the IPO funds these AI ventures and future interplanetary missions to Mars, while potentially making Musk the world's first trillionaire, increasing his net worth from $793 billion.
