Angolan banking system assets reach $28 billion 07.07.2026

During a workshop on Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) held in Luanda, the CEO of Standard Bank Angola, Luís Teles, revealed that Angolan banking system assets have reached $28 billion, representing approximately 24% of the national GDP. About 80% of these resources are allocated to financing the State and the private sector. Teles emphasized the need to align national banking liquidity with multilateral institutions to accelerate social impact projects. The Minister of Planning, Victor Hugo Guilherme, reinforced that PPPs are good governance instruments that enable the mobilization of private capital for infrastructure, easing pressure on the national treasury. The event also drew interest from the UK Deputy Ambassador, Roz Griffiths, who highlighted the ongoing reform trajectory in the country to attract investment.
