Anthropic has launched Claude Opus 5, a new AI model designed to deliver frontier-level intelligence at a significantly reduced price point. The company claims the model approaches the capabilities of its more advanced Fable 5 model while costing half as much, making it suitable for everyday use. According to Anthropic, Opus 5 excels in coding and knowledge work evaluations, though its top-tier Mythos 5 model still leads in cybersecurity tasks. This is by design, as Anthropic intentionally avoided training Opus 5 on cyber tasks, similar to its predecessor Opus 4.8. Despite this, the model has shown substantial improvement in cybersecurity due to its general capability enhancements.
