Antisemitism royal commission LIVE: Witnesses begin evidence on day three 06.05.2026

On day three of the Royal Commission into Antisemitism and Social Cohesion in Sydney, witnesses continued sharing lived experiences of antisemitism across Australian institutions. The commission condemned a man wearing an antisemitic T-shirt outside the hearing venue, reiterating that witness safety is paramount. Testimonies detailed incidents in schools, including primary school students being taunted with "Free Palestine" and "Free Hezbollah" chants during a museum excursion, and a Year 10 student being subjected to the slur "I hate juice" while a mother criticized a school deputy principal's refusal to name antisemitism. A Jewish university student described being held personally responsible for events in Gaza, while a Tasmanian teacher recounted students booing an elderly Holocaust survivor, blaming him for the Israel-Hamas conflict. A 13-year-old girl emotionally described how the Bondi massacre has left her friends fearful, hoping the commission can help.
