Apps auf Rezept: Das bringen Anwendungen für die psychische Gesundheit 23.02.2026

Digital health applications, known as DiGAs or "apps on prescription," are increasingly available in Germany to support individuals with mental health conditions like depression and anxiety. Since their introduction in 2020, over 75 DiGAs have been listed by the BfArM, with 30 specifically for psychological issues. These apps, prescribed by doctors and psychotherapists, offer psychoeducational content, practical exercises, and coping strategies, primarily targeting mild to moderate conditions. While they can bridge waiting times for traditional therapy and provide structured support, experts emphasize they are not a replacement for face-to-face treatment, especially for severe or complex cases, and their effectiveness is generally in the small to moderate range. Successful use depends on user preference and the app's suitability for the specific condition, with limitations on prescription duration.
