Arbeitszeit, Rente, Migration: Deutsche laut Umfrage zu Zumutungen bereit – „mit einer Ausnahme“ 19.02.2026

A recent Deutschland-Monitor survey reveals that Germans are largely willing to accept personal sacrifices to overcome the nation's economic crisis, showing openness to changes in areas like defense, digitalization, climate, and migration. However, a significant majority, 58 percent, reject the idea of working longer for the same pension due to an aging society, a notable exception to their general willingness for compromise. The study, conducted by university research teams and funded by the Ostbeauftragte, surveyed 4,000 individuals nationwide and an additional 4,000 in regional samples. While 98 percent officially support democracy, indirect questions highlight a concerning "grey area" where authoritarian ideas gain traction, particularly in Eastern Germany, with 71 percent perceiving a negative development of democracy.
