Excavations in Berlin's historic Molkenmarkt district have yielded a significant archaeological find: a rare 600-year-old wooden saint statue and several reliquaries containing human bones. The statue, believed to date from the 15th century, is exceptionally well-preserved and depicts a female saint, possibly St. Catherine or St. Barbara. The reliquaries, small containers used to hold sacred relics, were found nearby and are thought to have been part of a medieval church or chapel that once stood on the site. This discovery provides invaluable insight into the religious life of medieval Berlin, a period from which relatively few artifacts survive.
