Aristotle Viray, Rodante Marcoleta's co-accused in P75-M plunder case, detained in QC jail 07.07.2026

Aristotle Baluyut Viray, a businessman and co-accused of Senator Rodante Marcoleta, was committed to the New Quezon City Jail on Tuesday. His arrest occurred on Monday at a gasoline station in Quezon City following allegations involving a ₱75-million plunder case. The Office of the Ombudsman alleges that Viray provided ₱20 million to Marcoleta, a sum that was not declared in the Senator's Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth. Marcoleta has argued to the COMELEC that the funds received in January 2025 were not campaign contributions because the election period had not yet begun. After being treated at the PNP General Hospital for high blood pressure, Viray was processed by the Sandiganbayan. He joins co-accused Mike Defensor and Joseph Espiritu in the BJMP Quezon City Male Dormitory as the legal proceedings continue.
