Arktische Kälte rollt an: Hier drohen in Deutschland am Freitag bis zu minus 15 Grad 19.02.2026

Germany is bracing for a significant cold snap as an arctic low-pressure system is set to bring frigid temperatures, with the coldest day anticipated for Friday, February 20, 2026. Northern and eastern regions are expected to experience temperatures around minus 10 degrees Celsius, with the potential for even harsher frost, particularly in the northeast, depending on snow cover. Meteorologist Jan Schenk warns that if clear skies follow snowfall, temperatures could plummet to minus 15 degrees Celsius, especially over fresh snow due to its high surface area facilitating infrared radiation. While this intense cold is predicted to be short-lived, with temperatures rising again after Friday, residents are advised to prepare for genuine winter conditions and icy roads.
