Arturo Squella accuses PS of political use of the Constitutional Court regarding the mega-reform: “It is inappropriate” 07.07.2026

The president of the Republican Party, Arturo Squella, harshly criticized the decision by sectors of democratic socialism to appeal to the Constitutional Court (TC) to challenge the Government's mega-reform. Squella stated that this action seeks to use the body for political rather than legal purposes, accusing the Socialist Party of attempting to impose a "straitjacket" on the court. The parliamentarian defended the need to maintain legislative dialogue and emphasized that the central objective of the reform must be to reactivate the economy and generate certainty for investment in Chile. Despite the tension generated by the potential judicialization of the proposal, Squella urged the opposition to contribute constructive ideas that respect the spirit of the project, avoiding the dismantling of measures intended for national growth.
