ASML presenteert doorbraak, wil mogelijke uitdagers op onoverbrugbare achterstand zetten 23.02.2026

Dutch technology firm ASML has announced a significant breakthrough in its advanced Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) chip machines, aiming to solidify its market dominance. Researchers have successfully enhanced the light source, increasing its power from 600 to 1000 watts, a development described by top technologist Michael Purvis as a robust system capable of producing 1000 watts under customer conditions. This advancement, expected to be fully realized around 2030, could enable the production of up to 50 percent more chips. The breakthrough is crucial for ASML, which holds a near-monopoly on these sophisticated machines, as it seeks to maintain a substantial lead over emerging competitors from the United States and China, who are actively trying to develop similar technologies with governmental support.
