Assaults against U.S. Jews reach 46-year high 06.05.2026

Physical assaults against Jewish people in the U.S. reached their highest level since 1979 in 2025, according to a report by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). While total antisemitic incidents fell 33% from 2024 to 6,274, remaining the third-highest on record, violent attacks increased, with 203 assaults reported, up from 196 the prior year. Notably, 32 of these assaults involved deadly weapons, and three people were killed in antisemitic attacks—the first such murders since 2019—including incidents at a Washington, D.C., museum, a Colorado rally, and a New York stabbing. ADL senior vice president Oren Segal cautioned that the decline in overall incidents should not be mistaken for progress, stating antisemitism remains "normalized" with Jews targeted an average of 17 times daily. New York City was the primary hotspot, accounting for 860 of the national total.
