French Economy Minister Roland Lescure has urged insurers to mobilize for the rapid compensation of victims affected by recent storms Nils and Pedro, as well as exceptional floods in western and southwestern France. Following a meeting at Bercy on Friday, February 20th, insurers committed to expediting out-of-court settlements for claims not requiring expert assessment, swiftly deploying experts to affected sites, and extending the usual 30-day claim declaration period for areas declared natural disaster zones. This comes as the Atlantic coast experiences its longest rainfall period since 1959, with only 6,000 households remaining without electricity, down from a peak of 900,000. A commission will convene on Tuesday to address these issues.
