At least 13 killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza after Hamas agree disarmament deal 02.08.2026

BBC

At least 13 people, including several children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, according to Palestinian officials. The Gaza Civil Defence Authority reported that Israeli military aircraft targeted Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Deir el-Balah, marking the second consecutive night of attacks. The strikes come days after Hamas accepted a disarmament plan, which would see the group hand over its weapons to the US President Donald Trump's Board of Peace. However, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen stated on Sunday that no deal had been reached to stop attacks on Gaza, which is now under 70% Israeli control. Cohen emphasized the need for full Israeli control if Hamas does not disarm, despite the Board of Peace plan for Israeli withdrawal. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed it killed two Hamas commanders, including one from the elite Nukbha force, and another militant from the Jabalia Battalion, all allegedly planning attacks on Israeli targets. Palestinian health officials reported specific casualties, including a family of three killed in Khan Younis and two individuals in Deir el-Balah. More than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed since a supposed ceasefire began in October. The disarmament plan is part of a US-brokered ceasefire's second phase, aiming to end the war, but Israel remains deeply skeptical about Hamas's willingness to disarm. The plan includes a 20-point agreement and a 15-point roadmap for implementation, though details on weapon handovers remain unclear.
