At least 16 injured as Tropical Storm Jangmi threatens Kyushu 02.06.2026

Tropical Storm Jangmi, known as typhoon No. 6 in Japan, is projected to impact Kyushu with heavy rain and strong winds through Wednesday, with effects extending to the Kanto region. By Tuesday afternoon, the storm had caused at least 16 injuries and left approximately 48,000 homes in Okinawa and Kagoshima prefectures without power. Located north of Tanegashima, Jangmi was moving northeast at 35 kilometers per hour, featuring sustained winds of up to 25 meters per second and gusts reaching 35 meters per second, with a central pressure of 980 hectopascals.
