Ryan Lasko, a 24-year-old outfield prospect for the Oakland Athletics, is still unable to feel his lower body after undergoing emergency spinal surgery. The injury occurred during a Double-A game for the Midland RockHounds when Lasko collided with teammate Devin Taylor while both were diving to catch a fly ball in center field. Lasko remained on the ground after the collision and was carted off the field. Medical evaluation revealed he had fractured his C6-C7 vertebra, requiring spinal decompression and stabilization surgery. While the surgery was successful and Lasko is in stable condition, swelling has prevented him from regaining feeling in his lower half.
