‘Atin Ito’ holds sea action ahead of arbitral ruling’s 10th year 05.07.2026

On Sunday, the Atin Ito Coalition and approximately 250 fisherfolk from Zambales launched a symbolic sea action to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 2016 Arbitral Ruling. Organized alongside various local fishermen's associations, the group deployed nearly 80 boats to form the Philippine flag and the message “WPS, ATIN ITO!” to reaffirm sovereignty over the West Philippine Sea. The event serves as the start of a week-long commemoration, including a forum on July 10 and a parade in Puerto Princesa on July 12. Atin Ito co-convenor Rafaela David urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to issue an Executive Order declaring July 12 as National West Philippine Sea Victory Day to institutionalize this diplomatic victory. Participants emphasized that despite the historic ruling, they remain resolute against ongoing Chinese aggression and harassment within their traditional fishing grounds.
