Atroushi Demands Permanent Staffing Status for Kurdistan Contract Employees » Baghdad Today News Agency 07.07.2026

On July 6, 2026, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Farhad Atroushi, submitted an official request to the relevant authorities in the Iraqi state, demanding the necessity of transitioning contract employees in the Kurdistan Region to permanent staff status. Atroushi based his demand on the constitutional rights guaranteed by the Iraqi Constitution, as well as rulings issued by the Federal Court in this regard. In his official letter, obtained by the "Baghdad Today" news agency, the MP emphasized that these employees are Iraqi citizens deserving of legal and professional fairness, particularly in light of the acute shortage in the staffing levels of government departments in the Kurdistan Region. This parliamentary move aims to ensure the professional rights of contract employees and to adjust their legal status in accordance with existing laws and the required social and professional justice.
