Attempt to smuggle narcotics from Afghanistan via drone thwarted 05.07.2026

In cooperation with the State Security Service, Border Troops, and Internal Affairs agencies, a criminal attempt to smuggle narcotic substances in the Surxondaryo region was intercepted in a timely manner. It was determined that unknown individuals from Afghan territory attempted to bring narcotic substances into Uzbekistan territory via a drone across the Amu Darya river. As a result of the rapid operation, 2 kilograms and 32 grams of opium were seized as material evidence, attached to the drone. A relevant criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident, and investigative actions are underway. This operation was carried out to ensure public safety and protect the country's borders from the illegal entry of narcotic substances. This incident once again demonstrated the effectiveness of security measures in the Surxondaryo region.
