Au moins 38 personnes tuées en tentant de fuir des hommes armés au Nigeria 21.02.2026

In the village of Dutse Dan Ajiya, Nigeria, at least 38 people were killed on the night of Thursday to Friday while attempting to flee an attack by armed men. Local official Hamisu Faru reported that the incident may have resulted in 50 deaths, attributing the violence to "bandits who opened fire indiscriminately." The state of Zamfara, bordering Niger, is experiencing widespread insecurity due to armed groups, locally known as bandits, who engage in looting, kidnapping, and terrorizing residents, alongside a growing jihadist threat. Despite police presence and the mobilization of a fighter jet, the army reportedly did not engage the motorcyclist attackers, allowing the violence to continue. This attack follows similar incidents in the neighboring state of Kebbi, where the Lakurawa jihadist group killed dozens in seven villages the previous day.
