In a significant multi-agency law enforcement operation at the Baobab Toll Plaza near Musina, South Africa, authorities deported 50 undocumented foreign nationals and impounded seven buses and taxis. This crackdown, led by the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency (C-BRTA) and other law enforcement bodies, is a direct response to a recent increase in cross-border bus accidents and fatalities. The C-BRTA has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards unsafe and illegal cross-border operations, implementing strict road safety measures. The operation, which has conducted 2,884 inspections and arrested individuals for fraudulent permits, licence discs, bribery, and drunken driving, aims to enhance road safety and remove illegal operators.
