Azerbaijan forming institutional foundations of digital transformation - deputy minister 06.05.2026

At the 5th Agribusiness Development Forum in Baku on May 6, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov highlighted that Azerbaijan is establishing institutional foundations for digital transformation, particularly in agriculture, to address global challenges. He noted that technology drives agricultural changes, with the global agri-tech market expanding from $25 billion in 2025 to a projected $75 billion in a decade. Citing UN forecasts, he stressed that food demand in the next 25 years will surpass previous millennia's production, compounded by resource constraints, necessitating data-driven solutions. Asadov referenced successful models from the Netherlands and Israel, where competitive advantage relies on management, not resources. In Azerbaijan, digital platforms for the entire agricultural chain—from production to export—are being developed to boost export potential, coordinated by the newly formed Digital Development Council.
