B15 biodiesel rollout strengthens Malaysia's energy security, says minister 03.06.2026

Malaysia has officially rolled out its B15 biodiesel blend nationwide on June 1, a move championed by Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad. This initiative aims to bolster the nation's energy security and sustainability agenda by increasing the utilization of alternative energy sources derived from palm oil. Supported by an extensive network of 452 palm oil mills, 54 refineries, 19 biodiesel processing facilities, and 34 blending depots, the B15 program follows previous implementations of B10, B7, and B12 blends. The government anticipates that this transition will not only strengthen the domestic palm oil industry and advance the biofuel sector but also lead to an estimated annual saving of RM1.5 billion in fuel subsidies, with projected biodiesel usage rising to approximately 801,000 tonnes.
