Baby killed by Israeli fire in West Bank, IDF opens investigation 07.06.2026

The Israeli army announced the opening of an investigation following the death of seven-month-old baby Sam Fahd Abou Haikal, who was killed by fire from Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank. The incident occurred on Friday in the city of Hebron, where Israeli forces opened fire on the family's car. According to Palestinian sources, the bullet passed through the father's hand before hitting the baby in his mother's arms, who was also slightly injured. The Israeli army initially stated that a soldier fired at civilians after their vehicle accelerated towards troops, but later decided to open an investigation by the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division. Since October 7, 2023, violence in the West Bank has caused the deaths of at least 1,080 Palestinians and at least 46 Israelis.
