Bank of America agrees to pay $72.5 million to settle Epstein lawsuit 11h ago

Bank of America has agreed to pay $72.5 million to settle a class-action lawsuit alleging the bank maintained ties with individuals connected to Jeffrey Epstein and failed to report suspicious financial activities. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of victims of Epstein's sex trafficking, claimed the bank financially benefited from Epstein's associates and did not file necessary suspicious activity reports, despite knowing about Epstein's circle, including Ghislaine Maxwell. The settlement, which requires court approval, does not constitute an admission of wrongdoing by Bank of America, which stated the resolution allows them to move past the matter and provide closure to plaintiffs. The case highlighted how accounts provided by Bank of America were allegedly used by figures like Leon Black to pay Epstein substantial sums.
