Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the coalition will field several new candidates in the upcoming Johor state election, aiming to introduce fresh leadership. He reiterated the coalition's selection philosophy of choosing candidates who are “winnable, likeable and acceptable,” and confirmed that they are in the final stages of preparing the candidate list for all 56 seats in the Johor state assembly. The announcement of the names is expected a week before nomination day to allow for the resolution of any constituency-related issues before the campaign period. Barisan Nasional is also intensifying efforts to strengthen its election machinery in Johor and mobilize support from other states.
