Barry Manilow talks comeback after scary nights in ICU post cancer surgery 02.06.2026

Barry Manilow, who turns 83 in June, has spoken about his challenging recovery following surgery for a Stage 1 cancerous spot on his left lung. After a successful operation, he developed pneumonia, leading to seven days in the ICU and nearly a month in the hospital, during which his lung collapsed in January. At his lowest, Manilow weighed 128 pounds and felt he resembled Auschwitz prisoners. Despite these health struggles and a noticeably raspier voice, he is determined to resume his postponed tour dates in early June in the UK and return to his Las Vegas residency and US arena shows. Manilow's first album of original material in 14 years, "What a Time," is set for release on June 5.
