Wang originally sought $3,148 in compensation, covering ambulance services, lost income, future scar removal, and pain and suffering. Takla argued that only one dog was involved and that Wang provoked the attack by kicking and hitting them with an umbrella. He also claimed he had already paid the only legitimate expense of $75 for a rabies vaccine and had offered to drive her to the hospital.
