The Election Commission (EC) has officially gazetted the election results for the Bogura-6 and Sherpur-3 constituencies, declaring BNP candidates Rezaul Karim Badsha and Mahmudul Haque Rubel as elected members of the 13th National Parliament. These by-elections, held on April 9, saw turnouts of 42.57 percent in Bogura-6 and 52.19 percent in Sherpur-3. The notification, signed by EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed on April 10, brings the total number of BNP lawmakers in parliament to 210. The Bogura-6 seat became vacant after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who had won both Dhaka-17 and Bogura-6, chose to vacate the latter. The Sherpur-3 election was necessitated by the prior cancellation of the national poll for that seat due to the death of a Jamaat candidate.
