Brexit: More than half of UK voters support rejoining the EU, study finds 18.04.2026

New research from Best for Britain indicates that a majority of UK voters, specifically 53 percent, now support rejoining the European Union, a figure significantly higher than those favoring entry into the single market (46 percent) or a customs union (49 percent). The study also revealed that 61 percent of people endorse the government's current strategy of "resetting" relations with the EU to foster closer ties. This suggests a growing sentiment against "halfway house" arrangements and a preference for full membership, with support for rejoining being particularly strong among Labour, Liberal Democrat, and Green Party supporters. Pro-EU campaigners argue that membership offers both economic benefits and a political safety net, while some political figures believe closer ties are crucial given global instability.
