Bruno Le Roux, ancien ministre socialiste, condamné à deux ans de prison avec sursis pour détournement de fonds publics 19.02.2026

Former socialist minister Bruno Le Roux was sentenced by the Paris Correctional Court on Thursday, February 19, to two years in prison suspended, a €70,000 fine, and a five-year ban from holding public office. The conviction stems from the fictitious employment of his two daughters as parliamentary collaborators between 2009 and 2017, when he was a deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis, and the misuse of his expense allowance (IRFM). The court found the jobs "totally fictitious" with a significant discrepancy between stated missions and actual services rendered. Le Roux, who resigned as Interior Minister in 2017 following the scandal's revelation by "Quotidien," intends to appeal the verdict, stating he regrets not convincing the court and will continue to do so. He must also repay nearly €159,929 to the National Assembly.
