Bursa ends higher, CI jumps 1.10% 01.04.2026

Bursa Malaysia concluded Wednesday's trading session on an upward trajectory, with its primary index, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI), climbing 1.10% to 1,708.90 points. This positive performance mirrored gains across regional markets, influenced by a robust overnight rally on Wall Street. According to Sedek Jantan, director of investment strategy and country economist at IPPFA Sdn Bhd, improved market sentiment was bolstered by diminishing geopolitical tensions and a reduction in oil prices. The FBM KLCI opened significantly higher at 1,715.94, reaching an intraday high before settling at 1,708.90, an increase of 18.54 points from Tuesday's close. The broader market also favored advancers, with 780 stocks gaining against 444 decliners, though trading turnover saw a slight decrease to 3.58 billion units valued at RM3.56 billion.
