Bursa opens higher as investors assess West Asia risks 03.04.2026

Bursa Malaysia opened higher on Friday morning as investors evaluated the geopolitical risks stemming from the West Asia conflict. The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) saw a modest gain of 4.98 points, reaching 1,703.28 by 9:15 am, an increase from Thursday's closing of 1,698.30. Market breadth favored gainers, with 247 stocks advancing against 129 declining. The volatility in crude oil prices, with Brent crude remaining elevated at US$109 per barrel, was influenced by US President Donald Trump's remarks suggesting potential intensification of military operations in Iran. This uncertainty led to a cautious approach from local traders, who are awaiting further clarity before significant investment. Analysts anticipate the index to trade within the 1,690–1,705 range for the day.
