Bus heading to Badulla crashes into railway track, injuring 43 28.06.2026

A Badulla-bound Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus crashed into a railway track in the early hours of yesterday, leaving 43 people injured, according to Diyatalawa Police. The bus had departed Pettah around 6:30 p.m. on Friday and was en route to Badulla when the accident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. yesterday. The crash took place near a train signalling post adjacent to the Diyatalawa Railway Station as the bus was negotiating a turn. The vehicle plunged headfirst onto the track, causing heavy damage to its front portion.
