Caf president would welcome corruption investigation 09.04.2026

Confederation of African Football (Caf) president Patrice Motsepe has publicly stated his encouragement for any investigation into corruption within the organization, following a demand from Senegal's government. This call comes after Senegal's national team was controversially stripped of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) title by a Caf appeals board, with the trophy awarded to Morocco, a decision Senegal is appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas). Motsepe, re-elected in March last year, met with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and football officials in Dakar, emphasizing his zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and pledging full cooperation with any official inquiry, asserting that Caf will act immediately on any findings.
