As California primaries unfolded on June 3, 2026, key races remained undecided with a significant portion of votes yet to be tallied. In the gubernatorial primary, Steve Hilton led with 28% of the vote, followed closely by Xavier Becerra at 25%, and Tom Steyer at 20%. Incumbent Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is projected to advance to a runoff election, though her opponent is not yet determined. State Senator Scott Wiener is also projected to advance to the general election for California's 11th Congressional District, a seat formerly held by Nancy Pelosi, with Connie Chan also projected to reach the general election for that same seat.
