CAN. « Un jugement incompréhensible » : la Fédération sénégalaise de football réagit à la condamnation de ses supporters 20.02.2026

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has expressed profound dismay and indignation following the Moroccan court's sentencing of 18 Senegalese supporters on Friday, February 20, 2026. These supporters were detained in Morocco after incidents during the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) final between Senegal and Morocco on January 18, 2026. The FSF deems the sentences, ranging from three months to one year in prison and fines between 1,000 and 5,000 dirhams, as "incomprehensible" and "disproportionate." The accused were charged with hooliganism, including violence against law enforcement, damage to sports equipment, pitch invasion, and projectile throwing during the chaotic final, which Senegal won 1-0. The FSF president of the communication commission, Bacary Cissé, stated that such sanctions are unusually severe compared to similar incidents globally.
